first_imgIconic rock band Queen has announced that American Idol alum Adam Lambert will join the band as lead vocalist for a tour this summer. Lambert sang with Queen at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival, but this will be the first time that the singer tours with Queen.Queen – with founding members Dr. Brian May and Roger Taylor – announced the tour dates with Lambert on Good Morning America. About the opportunity, Lambert said, “to get to be onstage with these two rock royalty members…honestly, Queen is the quintessential rock band of all time…they’ve influenced bands for years.”Queen has performed with various Freddie Mercury “replacements” (is Mercury really replacable? No.) over the years, including a summer tour with Paul Rodgers (of Bad Company). So how will Adam Lambert fair in this line of rock and roll royalty? Here’s a clip of Lambert with Queen playing a medley:Brian May seems to think that Lambert is a good fit. He said, “It’s a worthy challenge for us, and I’m sure Adam would meet with Freddie’s approval.”Tickets go on sale next Friday, March 14th, with tour dates spanning across the country (they’re listed below).
