Percussion section getting it together

first_img Share By LARRY GAGESpecial to the PRESSThe Press visited with the Port Isabel Band Director Scott Hartsfield where he spoke about how it’s going with battery percussion and the new halftime show.Hartsfield is his own percussion specialist and clearly knows what he is doing in working with these talented kids.“It’s coming together for percussion,” Hartsfield said Tuesday. “I’m going to start making my rounds, see what all the specialists are doing and see where they’re at. Our goal is to through all three tunes (parts of the show), with every instrument specialty by Friday.”It’s a younger-than-usual band this year but Hartsfield has no qualms about everyone coming together and performing as a whole.Want the whole story?
