West Florida men’s tennis comes in at No. 2 in latest ITA rankings

first_imgITA DII Men’s National RankingsSKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of West Florida men’s tennis team dropped one spot to No. 2 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings after starting the season 13-1. West Florida’s only blemish on the year so far came in a 5-4 loss to the new No. 1-ranked team Hawaii Pacific on March 13 in La Jolla, California. UWF was ranked No. 1 in the nation for 42 matches dating back to the start of last season. UWF senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) and junior Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) come in as the top-ranked doubles team in the country in the latest national rankings after starting the season 10-1 with a 2-0 record against nationally ranked opponents. Sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) comes in at No. 9 in the latest national singles rankings after starting the season 9-3 with 1-1 record against nationally ranked opponents. Kuhn is ranked No. 25 while junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) ranked No. 31. West Florida will next face Alabama Huntsville on Thursday, March 26 at 1 p.m. CT before facing No. 18 BYU-Hawaii on Friday, March 27 at 12:30 p.m. CT. UWF will then face No. 32 Florida Southern on Saturday, March 28 at 9 a.m. CT.
